THE FARMERS’ CO-OPERATIVE AUCTIONEERING CO. LTD.
WEEKLY MARKET REPORT. Beef. —A considerable, quantity of beef largely of plain quality has found its way to the freezing works during the past fortnight and it is now plainly evident that there is not that surplus which many anticipated. Values are in consequence advancing and a firm market during the coming months may be confidently looked for. Mutton. —Like beef, mutton also has hardened, prime wethers especially being difficult to obtain. Store Cattle. —This branch has shown a tendency to recover especially for anything under two years. Steers of this age are the subject of strong enquiry as arc also heifers both one and two year old. There has not so far been much movement in grown bullocks whilst store cows arc at the same hnv ebb. Store Sheep.—There is not a strong demand for this class unless, in forward condition. Ewes in lamb have, however, advanced in a marked degree and seem likely to be in strong favour during’ the., next month. Dairy Cattle.—Except where the .Jersey strain is well evidenced it cannot be said that, dairy cuttle draw keen competition. Shorthorn herds generally are realising well below last season averages although the results of the registered milking Shorthorn sales indicate that this breed lias still many strong fanciers. Pigs.—Yardings have not been large but there has been a pronounced increase in values. We quote as follows: — Bullocks, heavy prime £l7 10/ to £2O medium £l4 to £lO .10/; cows prime fat £l2 10/ to £l4; medium fat £.lO to £ll 10/; heifers fat £lO 10/ to £l2; bullocks, Mlyr old, £9 to £10; cows, fresh conditioned, £5 to £5 10/; steers 24yr old, £0 10/ to £7; 20-months best, £5 t.0.£0; medium £3 15/ to £4 10/; heifers 20-months best, &G to £7 12/0; A ‘ yearlings, £4 to £5 IS/; (lairy cows be,st
