Sensational Italian Trial
By Cable.—Press Assn.—Copyright, Received 10.40 a.m. Rome, May 2. ■ There are one hundred witnesses in the Tripolo trial at Englia. The case recalls the Tarnowsky sensation. The prosecution alleged that the Countess was intriguing with Pali manti, aged twenty-one, and loaded him with presents. The Countess, who is a great beauty, gave evidence that during a period of physical weakness she allowed Palimanti to become too familiar. He seemed to sympathise with her. She feared to tell her husband. Later she recovered her selfpossession,. and when Palimanti intruded in her bedroom she shot him.
