POLICE INSPECTOR SHOT,

Calcutta, January 20. Another ( shooting outrage is reported, Inspector Ghose, who lias been prominent in political 'cases,' being shot dead in a street in this city. A student has been arrested.

Inspector Ghose’s orderly pursued and captured a second assailant. The police believe that the murder indicates the existence of a whole series of further conspiracies.

Evidence is accumulating that the crime is likely to cause a definite breach of Moderates and Extremists . among the Nationalists. The model" ates hitherto have been suspected of secretly sympathising with criminals, perhaps fearing the latter’s reprisals.

During Inspection Ghose’s cremation Hindu onlookers shouted that the murderer should be burnt alive with his victim,
