Thewhaliqg vessel, Hawk, returned to Auckland last evening with a damaged piopeller. A whale, which had been harpooned, doubled back past the steamer and the harpoon rone attached to it became entangled with the ship’s propeller. The strain on the rope was so great that ic broke, but not before one blade of the propeller had been seriously damaged
