GENEROUS OFFER.

TEST SCHEME FOE SOCIALISM. Mr Alfred S. Moore, a well-known Belfast man, who recently obtained a long lease of the Skerry Islands, off Portrush, from Lord Antrim, makes an offer of the free use of these islands in order to test the practicability of the present-day Socialistic problem. To the offer Mr Moore attaches only one condition, viz,, that if accepted by Mr Victor Grayson, M.P., and his friends, they remain on the islands for at least two years. Known as Long Island and Castle Island, they are about 1\ miles from the mainland, and contain about 300 acres, mostly of good arable land. There is an abundance of game, with good sea fishing, and in Mr Moore's opinion a better site could not be selected. They are within full view of the far-famed Giant's Causeway, and situated almost on the direct northern steamship route to Canada and the United States, It had been the lessee's intention to preserve the game and build a marine residence on the islands, but in view of this offer, which is bona fide, he has de ciddd to defer his original project.
