The following is Captain Edwin’s forecast for 24 hours from 9 a.m. to-day : Easterly moderate to strong winds; glass little movement. The Pukekura Road Board invites tenders for lease of a number of sections at Cambridge West. The Chamber of Commerce has decided to ascertain when the chiming clock for the new Post-office will come to hand. Should the Premier and PostmasterGeneral (Sir J. G. Ward) see his way to open the new brick post office in Cambridge, he will in all probability be deputationised in regard to local requirements. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company hold their monthly stock sale at Cambridge to-morrow. Owing to the large number of cattle and sheep entered, the sale will start at 12 o’clock. At the Chomber of Commerce meeting the matter of getting Cambridge recognised as a tourist resort was brought up by Mr F. J. Brooks, who thought as a first step that Mr Donne (head of the Tourist Department) should be invited to visit Cambridge. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the special committee appointed by the Borough Council in regard to advertising the claims of Cambridge as a resort for visitors. According to a statement made at the Chamber of Commerce meeting, on Tuesday evening, Mr W. S. Brunskill, of Taotaoroa, is instituting legal -proceedings against the Waikato Exhibition Committee, for recovery of the value of lost deer heads, which went astray when the oackages of exhibits from the International Exhibition were shipped back to Auckland.

At a meeting of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, Mr G. W. Save, president, tendered his resignation, owing to his removal to Dunedin. Mr J. W. Ellis was appointed to succeed him,. and Mr Mac Diarmid was elected vice-president. The Inspector of Telegraphs notified that a telephone bureau would be established at Tauwhare as soon as the necessary accommodation was provided. The question of making the Hamilton-Te Awamutu current metallic was under consideration, also the matter of increase accommodation between Hamilton and Auckland. The secretary was instructed to write to the District Traffic Manager requesting that smoking carriages should be so placed on the express as to obviate ladies passing through them to reach the dining-room, also that parcel tickets should be made available at Hamilton. It was also decided to ask that Frankton Station should be connected with the Hamilton telephone exchange, and that a goods shod should be erected and a stationmaster appointed at Kirikiriroa.

The annual meeting of the Loyal Duke of Cambridge Oddfellows’ Lodge was held at the Lodge-room, Onward Hall, on Tuesday evening. N.G. Bro. B. W. Palmer presided over a good attendance of members. The report and balancesheet were read and adopted and ordered to be printed. Votes of thanks were passed to the trustees and secretary (Mr 0. Stuart;. The medal presented by the secretary to the member obtaining the most new members during the past year was won by Bro. J. G. Summers, with a total of eight, the runner-up securing three members. Bro. Stuart was thanked for his-trophy, as was also Bro. J. K. Popple, who offered a member’s regalia for a similar competition this year. The usual sick-pay accounts were passed for payment. At the conclusion of the business, a social was given by the newlyelected officers. Songs were contributed by G.M. Bro. C, Huge, N.G, Bro. Palmer and "Warden Bro. W. B. Piesley ; a clarionette solo by P.S. Bro. C. S. Stuart; a euphonium solo by Bro. A. C. Shaw ; and phonograph selections by Bro. A. G. Pierce. The pianoforte accompaniments were played by Mr Wilson.
