CAMBRIDGE CURYSANTHEMUM SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the aliovc was held at the Fanners’ Club-room last night. There was an attendance of about 22, several ladies being present. Mr P, J. Brooks occupied the chair. The hon. sec. (Mr Trythall) gave a verbal report of the doings of the Society during the past year, and he specially referred to Miss Keesing and Mr Caddy, of the District High School, as having taken charge of the whole of the school children’s floral exhibits and staged them at the last show. The ladies who donated and presided at the afternoon tea, he said, were also deserving of praise. Mr Trythall said the services of the Orchestral Society were greatly missed this year, but the Town Band made a very fair substitute. The receipts during the year were £ID3. The Society started the year with a debit balance of £B, and finished with a credit balance of £2. The Chairman spoke in similar strains to those of the Secretary, and referred to the excellent work performed by Mr Trythall. A general conversational discussion then ensued as to the affairs of the Society. Mr Wells offered to grow the plants for the Society, and for anyone who wished to exhibit, he would take care that they were provided with the best varieties of blooms.—(Applause), Mr Wells emphasised the need of enthusiasm and of more growers. Several in the room undertook to grow for the next Show, and there is now every indication of the Society having a very successful year. The election of officers resulted ; President : Mr T. Wells, proposed by Mr Yeale, seconded by Mr W. 11. C. Walker; Vice-President: Dr, Boberts, proposed by Mr Wells, seconded by Mr McDermott; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Mr McDermott; Auditor: Mr F. J. Brooks; Committee: Messrs Walker, Lundou, Hair and Trythall. The usual votes of thanks to the outgoing officers and the usual compliment to the chair, terminated the proceedings.
