GENTLEMEN'S CLUB.

We are indebted to Mr Eigby, of Messrs Rigby and Warren, architects, for the following particulars of the Gentlemen's Club building which is being erected in Cambridge :—The structural timbers will be heart of matai and totara, and the interior finished throughout of heart of rimu. In the billiard room, provision has been made for two tables, each standing on concrete blocks. The ceiling will be broken up into three panels, with reeded panels and cornice mouldings. The lincrusta dado is painted in colors; above the dado, there will be plain, selftinted paper, with figured freize and picture rail. At each end of the room, which measures 42ft x 24ft, there will be a raised dais, and the seats will be covered in stamped leather. Provision has been made for installing twelve gas lights in the room. The social and card rooms each measure 18fb x 16ft, with folding doors between, so that both rooms may be thrown into one. These rooms will be finished in a similar way to that of the billiard room. The interior woodwork of the will be oiled and flat-varnished. The hall will be of octagonal design, and measures 18ft x 16ft, with seats on each side. The caretaker's room measures about 12ft x 10ft. The mantelpieces have all been specially designed, with tiled hearths and grates, and glazed earthenware curbs. The ventilation of the building has received special attention, ' the mlct is on the Hincke's-Bird system, and the outlet on the Boyle's air pump system, all the rooms being ventilated through the roof. The caretaker's room will be connected with all the other rooms'by electric bells. The doors have been specially designed, and will be fitted with bronzed embossed furniture. The roof will be covered with tongued and grooved Barking, felt and iron. The sides of the front entrance porch will be of vertical lattice work, with scrolls and brackets; the gables timber-framed, and the panel s covered with steel fish scales; the windows, all moulded mullions, with opening casements and fanlights ; and the front door and fanlights glazed with hammered Flemish glass.
