CAMBRIDGE WEST AFFAIRS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —“ The ass he brayed and made a noise,” so sayeth “ Onlooker.” Noise is the necessary consequence of braying. But why use such a clumsy metaphor ? The idea of forming a “ Town Board ” here at present is rather immature, and cannot be countenanced seriously by people who know the situation. It is a mere conception conjured up in the waning twilight ol imagination, and flits across the dawning light of intelligence as a belated bat flapping, it knows not whither, in the glare - of a morning sun. It is a state that cannot happen yet, nor soon, but will surely happen in the dim future, when there is population sufficient. When that time comes, and comp it will, there will, of necessity, be a move towards creating a Town Board. For the present the majority of the inhabitants are content to remain as they are, because they are fully aware that it would be a very questionable move towards advancement to form a “ Town Board ” under existing circumstances.— I am, etc., Compos Mejtis.
