A labouring man climbed over the parapet on Williamsburg Bridge, New York, and jumped into the East River, 185 feet below. He sank and remained beneath the water for a long time, then, coining to the surface, he w.is taken on board a ferry boat unconscious. His clothes were torn to ribbons. His face and body immediately turned black and began to swell. After giving his name which he was barely able to do, and remarking that he was nervous, he relapsed again into unconsciousness. He was promptly conveyed to an hospital. The physicians think it possible that he may recover. CAN BE DEPENDED UPON.
