The Telegraph says the Government intend to modi 1 y the naval programme of its predecessors by abandoning the building of a second Dieadnought or large armoured cruisers, thus saving £2,000,000. Larger economies arc predicted in next year’s estimates. GERMANY’S NAVY. Berlin, June 11, The German naval authorities have ordered an 18,000-ton battleship from the Germania Yard, and a 15,000-ton cruiser from the Imperial Shipbuilding Yards. AMERICAN TRUSTS. New York, June 11. The New York Herald states President Roosevelt intends to withdraw hour entry 40,000,000 acres of public land in the Western States, containing coal, petroleum, and minerals, with a view of checking the Standard Oil Company and other monopolists.
