The valuable manuscript which recently was missed from the library at Gray s Inn has been recovered, though the thief has not been found. William Evans, a builder’s scaffolder, while at work, noticed a parcel behind a hoarding. It was tidily done up, and on opening it he found a book inside. He anticipated giving his wife the book as a present. Later in the day, however, he mentioned to his fellow workers that he had found Something, and one of them told him of the missing manuscript, and of a reward which was offered for it. When he had finished his work Evans took the book to Gray’s Inn, and the authorities were delighted to find that it was the missing treasure, valued at <£'2o,ooo. The TIOO reward was not offered for the recovery of the book, but for the conviction of the thief; but probably the man will get a fitting reward.
