SOUTH AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. YESTERDAY'S PLAY The second round of the championship played in the afternoon resulted as follows: H. T. Gillies, Hamilton, beat C. F. Bond, Hamilton, 2 and 1. R. B. George Maungakiekie, beat F. L. Winter, Hamilton, 3 and 1. O'Cadaghan, Hawera, beat R. M. George, Maungakiekie, 1 up. J. Sharland, Middlemorc, beat Kenny, Te Aroha, 7 and 6. The Bogey Handicap was won by R, M. George, Maungakiekie. 1 down; O'Callaghan, Hawera, and R Cavanagh, Hamilton, tying for second place with 2 down. The Medal Handicap was again won by S. Pavitt lnglewood, who returned a card of 95—16—79. Monday's Putting Competition resulted in a tie between Kenny, Te Aroha, and O'Callaghan, Hawera, who each returned cards of 19. In the play off O'Callaghan won. Yesterday's competition was won by F. Seifert, Morrinsville, with a card of 17; C. F. Bond, Hamiton, coming next with 18. The best match of the day, and which attracted numerous spectators was between H. T. Gillies and C. F. Bond in the second round. These two plays have alv;:\s had interesting matches, and yesterday's game was no exception to the rule. Both men halved the first in bogey 11, then Bond secured the next two in fours, making him (wo up. The fourth and fifth were halved in five, Gillies securing the sixth and seventh in four and six, squaring the match. The eighth was halved in five, and Gillies secured the ninth in a wellplayed four, turning for home one up.' Gillies won the tenth in four, and Bond the 11th in five. Gillies notched the 12th in four, and tin 13th was halved in five. Gillies won the Mth in three, Bond losing a penalty stroke, and the 15th being halved" in five Gillies was dormy three. Bond secured the 16th in five, hut by halving the 17th in five Gillies secured the match by two up and oi e to play. Both men halved the 18th in five. Gillies' card read 365554654464535655-86, and Bond's 344555755555555555—88. TOjDAY'S PLAY The meeting was continued today under most favourable auspices. In the semi-final for the Championship R. M. Jones beat H. T. Gillies at the 19th hole; O'Callaghan beat J. Sharland, 6 and 5. The 18-hole Bogey Competition was won by Dr. Kerny. Te Aroha, with 1 up, O'Callaghan 2 and 1, being second.
