A CONNECTED STORY. Received 2.D0 p.m., 4th. Paris, October 3. The Temps gives the first connected account of the battle of the Marne. On September sth lire Crown Prince was advancing in the Argoune, the Duke of Wurtemburg between the Aisne and Chalons, the Saxons upon Rheinis, General von Bulow towards Esternay, and Genera! von Kluck towards Mcaux. The Adies first threatened the fiank of General von Kluck’s right wing, and then on the 6th ordered a general offensive movement. The British moved against General von Kluck’s right, and the general array advancing from the Ourcq threatened General von Kluck from behind. On the first day General von Kluck’s columns, which were moving on Brovins, turned back, while the Germans confronting General French retreated on the Grand Morin. This enabled the British to straighten its lines northwards of the Cure, and attack the array confronting the forces on the British right. Supported by the British a vigorous attack threw General von Kluck’s left, and General von Bulow’s right back over the Marne, On the Bth the general army, which had been entrusted with the task of holding the front, began its offensive movement. While its right held the Prussian Guards and three German corps at Le Fere Champenoise in check, tire left fell on the enemy’s flank, compelling it to retreat to Rheinis. Simultaneously General French occupied Vitry, the forward move relieving the army, as the move had relieved the general army in the Revigny district, which meanwhile being attacked on the right from Cbermnnte and the Argon, c, and from behind from the direction of the Muse heights was threatened with being thrown upon Verdun.
