THE RUAHINE
ARRIVAL AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph. —Special to Argus. Wellington, Sunday. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Ruahiue arrived from London yesterday afternoon. She was nearly a fortnight behind her due time, owing partly to being a week lute leaving Loudon and partly to a stay of five days at TenerifTe, caused by the activity of the Germans at sea. it was learned at TenerifTe that the Castle liner Galician, according to the official report, had been captured by the German armed merchantman Kaiser Wilhehn der (irosse. The Galician was boarded by a German officer, her papers confiscated and her wireless destroyed, and she was then ordered to steam towards the African coast, where it was intended, after landing her passengers and crew, to sink the ship. But later the scheme was abandoned and the ship was allowed to proceed on her voyage. Later in the day information was received that the R.M.S.P. Company's Arlanga had been captured, but, like the Galician, was allowed to proceed on her voyage. When the Ruahine left TenerifTe she was escorted by 11. M.S. Cornwall, and the route she took was patrolled by the armed merchantmen Macedonia, Mauretania, Kinfauns Castle, Cumberland, and Monmouth. During her passage down the English Channel the Ruahine's papers were examined four timesthree times by British warships and once by a French warship.
