Home Rule.
AUSTRALIAN PARTISANS. , PETITION AGAINST HOME RULE. 150,000 SIGNATURES. Received 9.5 a.m., 29th. Sydney, May 28. Various Hibernian societies in the Commonwealth, have cabled to Mr John Redmond and Mr Asquith congratulating them on the passage of the Home Rule Bill. The Victorian Ulster Defence Fund committee have cabled Sir Edward Carson, urging v Ulstermen to stand fast in defence and await attack in quietness and confidence, standing firm. There are already 150.000 signatures to the petition against Home Rule. ROMAN CATHOLIC PEACE COMMITTEE. London, May 27. The belief is freely expressed that no attempt will be made to establish a Provisional Government in Ulster until the Home Rule Bill has received the Royal assent. A Roman Catholic Peace Commision has been formed in Belfast to assist the authorities to preserve order. The Times says that the situation has hardened and the chances of an agreement are more remote than they were six months ago. Sir E. Carson has received many sympathetic messages and cheques, including £ISOO from Melbourne.
