NEW ZEALAND FARMERS' UNION
MORRINSVILLE BRANCH. There was a fair attendance at the monthly meeting of the above branch on Saturday last, when Mr G. Howie presided. A communication was received from the Minister for Defence re the provision of a drillshed at Morrinsville, in which he stated that data was being collected, and when this was available the matter would be fully considered. The Prime Minister and Mr C. J. Parr, Mayor of Auckland, acknowledged with thanks the branch's commendation of their course of action during the late strike troubles. Several new members were elected. The question of holding a show at Morrinsville was brought up, several of the members being of opinion that a successful gathering could be held, and that the recreation ground would be a suitable site. Others, however, were of opinion that there were too many shows in the vicinity at present, and that it would be advisable to take a holiday for a year or two or hold one district show. No motion was proposed, it being understood that the question would be brought up later on when a public meeting would be convened with a view to holding a show at Morrinsville next season.
