THIS YEAR'S ELECTIONS
SOME PROBABLE CONTESTANTS By Telegraph.—Press Asosciation, Christchurch, Tuesday. Mr A. A. l'aape, the Reform Party's organiser, is at present in South Canterbury. In connection with the selection of a Reform candidate for the Timaru scat, it is stated that Mr Bernard Tripp was asked some weeks ago to cany the Reform banner, but so far as can be ascertained he has not yet given a reply, though it is an open secret that he is not eager to be the candidate. Other names have been mentioned, hut it is known that one or two gentlemen who would represent the party admirably, and who command the confidence of the Reform voters, are prevented by business and other considerations from coming forward.
Mr l'aape has also visited Temuko. Colonel Hayhurst, the Mayor of Temuka, has been mentioned freely as the Reform candidate for the Temuka seat at the general election, but there is another Richmond in the field—a gentleman whose name is well known in connection with the party. Cisborne, Tuesday. Mr 11. 1). deLatour has finally decided to contest the Cisborne scat against all-comers, in the interests of the Reform Party, at the next general election.
