DAIRY REGULATIONS

By Telegraph.—-Press Association Dunedin, Thursday.

A deputation from the Dunedin and Suburban Dairymen’s Association waited on the Prime Minister, Hon. W. F. Massey, who, after hearing their views, said he understood them to say that the present regulations were too drastic, that inexperienced men were sometimes appointed to administer them, and that too much power was in these inspectors’ hands. He was a farmer himself, and understood how important it was that not only stock, but sheds, should be kept in proper condition. He would have their statements about inexperienced men looked into, and see what could be done. He agreed that inexperienced men could not administer the regulations as they should be administered. If that was the case, he would see that men were there who had had experience. If it were possible to provide some form of appeal, he thought that should be done, but at the moment he could not see how it could be worked.
