It is understood that the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board are approaching the Minister of 1 üblie Health, the Hon. K. Heaton I Rhodes, on the question of consumpI tive hospitals for the Auckland disi trict, It is suggested that it might | he advisable if the Auckland Hospital i Board, rather than go to the expens" ! of building a separate institution, I were to come to an arrangement with I the Government by which the Te j Waikato Sanatorium could be made | the consumptive home for the entire | province, which course, it is argued, i would result in greater efficiency and i less cost. If the Minister agrees to j the suggestion the board will not proceed with the proposed hospital for consumptives at the Tamaki, but instead will send all the Auckland patients to Cambridge. This, it is urged, would result in the Cambridge institution being worked with much greater economy and efficiency. The i Minister is to look into the matter on I his visit at the end of the present I week to the Cambridge sanatorium.
