Received 10.20 a.m., Ith. London, June 3. Mr Lloyd George, speaking on the second reading of the Financial B:ll, intimated that ho strongly favouietl the appointment of a departmental committee, consisting ot business men and some members of the House of Commons, to inquire into the existing system of income tax assessment, with a view to removing anomalies. The Westminster Gazette agrees with several speakers to the Bill that it is high time to revise and simplify the assessment, inasmuch as some pay 100 much and others too little.
