DEPREDATIONS BY DEER

By Telegraph--Press Association, Dunedin, Wednesday.

A deputation representing the Acclimatisation Society waited on Hon. H. D. Bell for the purpose of soliciting Government assistance to cull the red deer herds in the back country. It was pointed out that the herds were becoming very weedy owing to the increase in the numbers. The Minister said the small fanners were complaining of the depredations on their crops, and he thought the Government would have to attend to the matter, but he could not promise anything, though the matter would receive careful attention.
