HAMILTON BAND CARNIVAL
At a meeting of the committee of the Hamilton Band Carnival last night a letter was read from Capt. Cardston stating that he would arrive on Monday next and would at once take up the work of training the performers for the various dances. The Cambridge Fire Brigade notified that they would take part in the Fire Brigade Demonstration. Mr J. T. Brown was instructed to arrange for the services of a clairvoyant at the Carnival, and Mr Hayes has undertaken to provide a shooting gallery, skittle alley, &c. The authority for the Art Union has arrived, and the books of tickets have been placed with the members of the committee, Others desirous of assisting in this direction can obtain books from the Secretary, Mr Morrison. Messrs Ellis & Burnand’s donation of furniture, valued at £2O, was allotted as the first prize, Messrs Brown & Co.’s furniture, valued at £ls, as second, and Messrs Fletcher & Co,’s suit of clothes, valued at £6 6s, as third.
