A meeting of this board was held in the pavilion on the lake reserve yesterday, there being present Messrs J. Ferguson, chairman, G. Dickinson, and E. N. Souter. The lake grounds, where a number of improvements have been made lately, especially on the lower level, were inspected, and the chairman was congratualcd on the excellent manner in which they had been carried out under his instructions and supervision. Much of the raupo at tne eastern end of tiie lake has been torn up and heaped into three small islands, on one of which a couple of the white swans—thoso donated by His Majesty the King, commonly known by the inhabitants ns George and Mary —have built a neat. A letter was received from the borough council Hiking the board to allow the drain which is to take the water from the ’“dismal swamp” to cross section No. 10, and to make the necessary arrangements with the lessee of the same. The lessees, the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company, being agreeable, it was resolved to cut oil a portion of the section 10 feet wide, which will not only admit of the drain being made, but will also allow a row of trees to bo planted upon it. It was decided to notify Mr S. Webb, who leases several sections at the eastern end of the lake reserve, that he must forthwith eradicate the noxious weeds growing thereon, or the board will re-enter and do the work at Ins expenseBorne discussion took place over (he charge for gas made by the borough, and tire borough council will bo approached re the matter. It is believed by the inhabitants that the Cambridge Domain is the only one in the Dominion that lias to pay for gas supplied. Several accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
