NGARUAWAHIA.

A well attended meeting was held on Thursday evening, presided over by Mr Marsland, chairman of the town board, to decide the best way of showing sympathy with Mr and Mrs Roper in their recent disastrous loss. After considerable discussion it was decided to raise a sum of money and to that end a subscription list was opened and a sum of £SO was subscribed in the room. The following gentlemen were appointed a committee with ower to act and to add: Messrs E. Fitzpatrick, A. Morris, 11. Marsland, A. Hamblin, H. Rogers, J. R. Hetherington, B. A. Smith, T. McKeown, T. Baterson, senr., Father Cahill, Rev. Potts, J. Crawford, J. P. Bailey (Huntly), A. H. Waring (Taupiri), W. Seavill, A. J. Walker, K. K. Paterson (Waingaro), A. Upton (Waimai), A. R. Langley (Raglan). Mr T. Paterson was appointed secretary and treasurer.

'lhe anniversary services in connection with the Wesleyan Sunday School were held on Sunday last, and were well attended. On Wednesday evening the annual tea, concert and prize-giving was held in the hall. During the evening Mr Potts, on behalf of the congregation, presented Miss Fausett with a gold watch as a recognition of her services as organist. Mr Fausett returned thanks on behalf of his daughter. A splendid programme of musical items was rendered by the following Sunday school children, Misses Fausett, Hallamore, I'rendergast, Clayton, Henderson, Graves, Ridgley, and Messrs I’rendergast, Edlington, Clayton. The following is the prize list: Class 111.: Girls, Vida Henderson. Kathleen Henderson, Rene Fausett, Clematis Bell, Lilian Rowe, Muriel Bycroft, Elsie Bycroft; buyi, Bruce Bell, Leonard Bycroft. Class II.: Girls, Nessie Fausett, Isabel Nicol, Vera Bycroft, Gladys Rogers, Mildred Bycroft, Lilian Marsh. Ina Rogers; boys, Freddie Edkins, Leslie Fausett, Gordon Fausett, Mervan Rogers. Class L : May Blake. Mabel Bycroft, Phylis Bycroft, Elsie Marsh, Dean Hall. Inez Hethering- , Gordon .. s, Arthur Marsh, Hector Marsh, Renton Bell.
