CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING AT CAMBRIDGE. The golf championship meeting commenced on the Cambridge links on Wednesday. The weather was good and the greens were in good order. The Cambridge A team won the teams match, whilst T. Middleton, of Cambridge won the medal handicap, with C. Kusabs, of Rotorua, runner-up. Those who qualified for the championship were Kusabs, Rotorua; Mahoney, Hamilton; Shepherd, Hamilton; Geo. Morpeth, Waihi; Nicoll, Cambridge, Ross, Cambridge; Middleton, Cambridge; and Dr. Howden, Cambridge. CHAMPIONSHIP. Fine weather prevailed for the second day (Thursday) of the South Auckland Golf Tournament. The play generally was below the standard, but was relieved in a few cases by meritorious rounds. H. Gillies (Hamilton) was in fine form, winning the bogey handicap, his 38 in the first round being a record for the course. Kusabs (Rotorua) and Dr. Howden (Cambridge) will fight out the championship tomorrow morning. J. Banks (Cambridge) won the medal handicap, M. Morpeth (Waihi) being runner-up. Mrs Edmunds (Auckland) was the winner of the ladies’ bogey competition. Mrs Bush (Paeroa) and Miss Lundon (Cambridge) play off in the final for the ladies’ championship tomorrow. Dr. and Mrs Roberts entertained the visiting golfers at luncheon and afternoon tea. The details of the play are Men’s Medal Handicap.

A four-ball best ball competition will be played on the Hamilton links tomorow. The handicaps and draw will bo put up in the club house.
