The Nimrod.
By Telegraph.-- Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The work of getting the British Antarctic exploration ship Nimrod ready for sea is proceeding apace, and the crew have been engaged during the jiast two days in bending the vessel’s sails and putting the finishing touches to the rigging. Some 210 tons of Westport coal were taken in from the hulk Darra yesterday. The Nimrod’s bunkers were tilled, and the balance of the coal is being put into the holds. The vessel will also take on hoard 50 tons of Blackball coal, thus making a total of 2(10 tons. Practically the whole of the stores and food are now stored in a shed on the wharf. A few small packages, containing gifts from the friends of members of the expedition have si ill to arrive, but will be in port by the end of the week. The stores will be loaded into the holds, and once they are on board there will be little left to do before the Nimrod sets out on December 1 from Lyttelton, on her second voyage to the Antarctic.
