Tiie Trades AND Labour Council KNOW THE MANY T7IBTUES" of "pHAMPION. [Herald and Star, April 19.] A TTITUDB OP THE TBADES A . COUNCIL. At last night's meeting of the Trades and Labour Council roteience was made to the effect the operations of the Southern Flour Trust would have on the pockets of the workers if the local mills were unable to keep pace with the competition, Mr W. Peake mentioned that large quantities of Southern Flour had been coming into aucklsnd, and stated that it was to their own interest for the workers to stand by the local mills, but for which the price of flour would now be considerably higher. He suggested that the matter should be brought before all the union', asking them to support their loaa.l mills. The Chairman (Mr H. "W. Brookes) endorsed the list speaker's remarks, remarking that it was a well-known fact that the Flour received from the Auckland Mill was good and that Bad Reports Had Been Received or the Southern Flour Plackd on the Market, while the American Flour was Reported to i>e Even Worse. Mr Derrick moved—" That the Secretary be instructed to write to the various unions, calling attention to the fac's, and asking them to support local manufacturers in preference to importations." The laotion was carried unanimously. Cluimpion PRIME N.Z. (NOT FOBEIGN) PASPALTJM DILITATUM ACCLIMATISED SEEL FOB BEST RESULTS SOW BEDFORD'S RENOWNED HAND-SHAKEN SEED Name on bag.
