By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. Phyllis Baxter shows slight improvement, and is at times conscious. The baby died on Sunday afternoon.

The inquest on the victims of the recent tragedy was resumed yesterday. George Carter, an employee in Baxter's shop, deposed that Baxter had been depressed for over a fortnight. He saw Mrs Baxter the night before the tragedy and she said Baxter was complaining of a bad head, jjj Margaret Mcßobie, who nursed Mrs Baxter in her recent illness, said she thought Baxter was insane. On one occasion he had taken a bottle of laudanum from witness' room, and when asked to return it said that the bottle was broken.
