Cambridge Magazine Club.
The annual meeting of the above club was held yesterday afternoon, the chairman, Mr James Hally, preskiing.
The committee reported that during the year there was only one change in the membership, and that so far as could be ascertained, members generally appeared to be satisfied with the class of magazines, as they did not reach the secretary in such a damaged condition as formerly. The financial year had commenced wih a credit balance of 15s and ended with a debit of 2s 1 Id. The falling oil' was due to the fact that Mr Appleyard, of Tirau, who used to purchase two-thirds of the magazines after they had been round the members, bad now ceased to do so. The club now subscribed to 12 magazines; and in view of the difficulty that is experienced in quitting them, it would be wise not to increase the number. The expenditure had been £ll 9s 2d, and the receipts £ll 6s fid. Mr W. Earl wrote stating he was prevented from being present by indisposition, but if lie could be of any service to the club he would continue to act on the committee, if the members so wished.
He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for past services, and he and Mr Hally were rc-dected a managing committee.
Two members of the club resigned, namely, Mrs White and Dr Roberts.
It was decided to fill the vacancies, and continue to get the same maga zines for the ensuing year.
