Young cattle and up to two-year-olds were brought forward in large numbers and sold much better throughout than at previous month’s sale, only ono line being left unsold at the conclusion of tho sale. The beef pens were well supplied, but competition was not too keen unless for anything well fatted. Good steers realised up to £9 2s, others £G 15s to £8 10s ; <rood young cows and heifers, £5 10s to £G 12s Gd; threo-yonr-old steers, £4 18a to £5 ss; fresh three-year-old steers, £G 15s; two-year-old steers, £3 12s fid to £1 ss; 18-months steers, £3 3b to £3 10s ; quiet IS-montha and twoyear heifers, £2 15s to £3 10s ; strong good yearlings (mixed sexes), £1 18s to £2 4a; yearling steers, £2 la to £2 8s ; fresh cows, £3 to £3 17s Gd; dairy stock offered in large numbers, but nothing of choice quality; heifers near calving sold at from £4 5s to £3 7s Gd, others £3 10s to £4; cows, £5 to £G 10a. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report: — On Tuesday, November 7th, we held our second bull sale at Ohaupo yards, and offered 93 bulls of all ages. Buyers were in attendance from all parts of Waikato, and wo report a record sale, disposing of every boast at the hammer. Choice 2 and 3-ycar-old pedigree bulls from Mr Jno. Allen, of Waingaro, realised from £l2 12s to £l6 16s; 3 and 4-ycar-old bulls from other owners, £5 6s to £0 9s ; yearling to 18-months and 3-year-old bulls from various owners, £5 10s 6d to £ll. Four hundred head of store cattle sold well throughout, every pen being disposed of at auction or afterwards at satisfactory prices. Wellington, Last Night. Tho Department of Industries and Commerce has received tho following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, November 4Mutton ; ) Market very dull on account of tho absence of demand. The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is 3jd per lb, and for other New Zealand mutton 3id per lb. River Plate mutton is in large supply. The average price to-day for River Plate mutton is 3d per lb. There is scarcely any demand for lamb. The average price for light weights is 4d per lb. Heavyweights sold at mutton prices. A large supply is at present held in store. The beef market is weak, and the supplies of River Plate are increasing. Large quantities of River Plate chilled are arriving in bad condition. The average price to-day for hindquarters of New Zealand beef is 3Jd per lb; forequarters, 2yd per lb. Tho butter market is firm. There is a largo demand for better grades. A small shipment by the s.s. Athcnie arrived in good condition. The average price to-day for choicest New Zealand butter is 114s per cwt.; Danish, 121s. The cheese market is rather unsettled, Canadian, 575. The hemp market is firm. The price for Now Zealand hemp, good fair Wellington grade on spot Lo-day, is £3l IDs; maiula, October-December shipments, £-11 10s. Thu cocksfoot seed market is quiet. The average price for bright clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed, weighing 171b per bushel, on spot, te 51s cwt. Kauri gum ; Ordinary, fair threcquartcracrapcd, £6 10s; lair half-scraped, 90s ; brown, fair half to threequurter-scraped, 775; brown pickings, common to good, ■44s; bush, fair to good, pale and amber scraped, £3 sa. The stock held in London is 1094 tons. The market is steady and tho demand only moderate.
