FOOTBALL.
PATERANGI CLUB. Our footballers had a practice match with Pirongia on Saturday last, in which they came out even. There are six clubs in the Waipa Union this season, and the cap matches begin next Saturday. Our boys had a social gathering last Wednesday, which was a great success. Dancing, interspersed with vocal items, was kept up to Dearly 1 o'clock. Tne absence ol S. C. Mackav and C. Sing, who played centre three-quarter and centre forward respectively last season, will weaken the team very much this year.—(Own Correspondent). ' THE ENGLISH TEAM. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOOIATION) Wellington, This Day. The English footballers leave Sydney for New Zealand on July 30 and play five matches in the colony, beginning on August 6. The fixtures are to be arranged on Friday.
