HUNTLY.

Church.—A special mooting of the Central Vestry of the Parochial Dutrict of Huntly-cum-Ngaruawahia was held on Wednesday at the Vicarage. The Rev. H. Maßon presided, and a majority of the parochial delegates were present. The re-assessment of the various sub districts for General Church Expense was confirmed. Satisfactory arrangements were made for carrying out the recent recommendation of Bishop Neligan re the punctual payment of the stipend. The churob services for the coming quarter were considered, and financial matters were reported to bo in a healthy state. Mr E. B. Cox, the secretary and treasurer, reported on the arrangements recently made for the presentation of a trap to the Vicar. The Vicar returned his hearty thanks for the kindly consideration and generosity shown towards him, not only in this presentation, but in his work generally throughout the parish. Death.—Perahurihun, the wife of Repe, daughter of Te Whero-whero Tawhiao, and niecp nf tho Hon. Mahuta, M.L.C., died at Waahi, near Huntly, early on Tuesday morning. The deceased, who was of royal blood, was in her prime, being only twenty-three years of age. The usual tangi is taking place. Large numbers of natives from all parts of the district are present, and amongst them the ex-King, who will not leave for Wellington in order to resume his legislative duties until after the period of mourning ceases. Cobbbction.—The several functions connected with the installation of Bro. Walter Reid, W.M.-elect of Lodge Taupiri No. 118, will lake place on the 6th, not ou the 2nd as previously intimated in these columns.—(Own Correspondent.)
