HAMILTON LIBRARY FANCY DRESS BALL.

A meeting of the Executive Committee was held in the library, yesterday afternoon. The following ladies and gentlemen attended :—Mesdames Slade and Furby, Misses Carey and Brown, and Messrs R. Bradley (chairman), W. H. Paul, Geo. Parr (lion, sec), and J. C. McCrca. The Librarian reported that offers of assistance were coming in freely from country districts. The la lies of the committee have undertaken to guarantee a first class supper on both nights Miss Soppet's quadrille band has, been engaged, so that the lovers of daocing can rely on having first-class music. The hall decorations have been placed in the hands of Mrs Furby and Miss Carey, whose efforts, will 110 doubt, be duly appreciated when the eventful evening arrives. It is tne wish of the committee that as many as possibly will be present in fancy dresses. A donation of a year's subscription to the library will be donated to the lady and gentlemau appearing iu the most striking costumes. It is also expected that the majority of the children will be dressed in fancy attire on the second evening. The committee have wisely decided to reserve tbe ball floor for children only at the children's drnce from S o'clock to 10.
