Two boys, named Still, aged 16 and 17 years of age, were committed for sentence to-day on a charge of breaking and entering a private dwelling and stealing jewellery valued at £22 15s. Tlie offence was . ommitted on February 24, and is net considered to have any connection with the numerous other burglaries that have taken p'aee here recently. The Secretary of the Department of Industries has received a complete set of papers relative to the Grand International Peace Exhibition of South Africa, to he held at Johannesburg in 1934-5. Ah Chin, f-nnd guilty of committing tin unnatural off-nee on a boy nine year's of age, was sentenced to IS months' hard labour. The annual meeting cf the New Zealand Press Association was held to-day, Mr H. Brett in the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. After a brief dltcusjion, Mr Klundell was re-elecled director, as representative of the evening papers, and Mr G. G. Stead, of the Christchurch Fress, was elected director representing the morning paners. Motions to increase the cumber of directors and to make a retiring director ineligible for re-election for a year were both lost. Dunrdin was elected for the next place of meeting. Donfdin. Last Night. Between seven and eight o'clock this morning Mr J R. Thornton, solicitor, wis picked up no'St. Clair bench unconscious. He had a wound from a pearifle in the centre of his forehead, and the weapon still in his hand. Very litte hope of his recovery is entertained.
