Assisted by a competent staff of resident There are three sides of the Upper School, viz.: — The Classical Side, the Commercial Side, and the Science Side. Pupils entered on the Classical Side are prepared for the Matriculation and Civil Service Examinations. Those entered on the Commercial Side receive instruction in Modern Languages, aud in Shorthand, Typewriting and Bookkeeping. Many former pupils of the, school who have passed through the' commercial course arc now holding good business positions in Auckland and elsewhere. Pupils entered on the Science Side receive instruction in Elementury Chemistry, Phytic?, and Geology, and in Geometrical, Mechanical, Freehand, and Perspective drawing, arid are prepared for positions in engineering, mining, or agriculture. The science classroom ii 3 fitted up with all needful appliances for science cljss teaching and laboratory work. Boarders are instructed in carpentry. The Spring Term begins on Monday, Sept. 21.
