THE TAVIUNI.

A telegram from Gisbome, received yesterday afternoon, reports that tho Taviuni, being towed by the Mimiro, was passing Gable End at 12.45 p.m., going Soutb. Toe feat of the chief officer ot the Tavinui, who is a son of Captain Edwin, in effecting a landing is highly applauded in shipping circles. There was a tremendous sea running, and launchiug the boat was effected with the utmost difficulty, while running ashore through half a mile of surf was perilous in the extreme. The men speak in the highest terms of the officer's pluck and skill in navigating the boat.
