SUB-INSPECTOR MITCHELL PROMOTED. (BV. TELEGRAPH—FRESS ASSOCIATION) Wellington, Last Night. Sub-Inspector Mitchell, at present statioued at Auckland, is is be placed iu charge (if Southland, which is to be formed into a ecpirite police district, and will L.c promoted to the rank of un iuspector of police. Few officers iu the force have had such rapid advancement as Sub-inspector Mitchell, aud his most recent promotiou is well deserved.
