TE AWAMUTU PUBLIC LIBRARY.

A MEETING of the Libmry Committee vrua h'ld in the library budd ng on Monday evening last. There wire present: Messrs J. P. Value (chairman), J K Andrew, Jag, Mnideno, W. North and J. B. Tcasdale. Th ■•■ two latter gentlenien were eho-en to represent the Town Board on the Library Committee. The Chairman reported that the late library fancy dress hull from a social point of view wis a great success, but financially the funds would not benefit as there w.s j\o surplus. The nc.v addition was almost completed, and the tot 11 cost would be, allowing for extras £l9O Is Bd, which included some repairs to the old library. A rain gauge only had been supplied free from the Meteorological Department, and a weather glass had been promised by Messrs Morrin and Co., of Auckland. Mr Moses, of Messrs L. D. N ithan and Co., had very kindly promised a clock, has come to hand, and will be placed over the front door. Payments amounting to £lll 8s 4d had been made on account of the new building. The finances showed a total credit balance in hand to date £57 2s Id, with £25 to be received trom the Town Board, making amount at credit £B2 2s Id. Accounts in con-■ neciion with the completion of the building amounting to £7B 3s 5d were passed for payment. It was resolved to increase the insurance with the South British Insurance Company on the building and contents to £4OO. The question of procuring new furniture for the new building, and also painting 'he old building was deferred. The opening ceremony of the new building will take place on 4th September at 2.30 p.m.—(Own Correspondent).
