Pretoria advises that an attack on Mafeking began ou Saturday. The native quarter of the town was burnt. GENERAL HUNTER STARTS FOR MAFEKING. GENERAL BARTON FIGHTING AT ROOIDAM. WHITE FLAG TREACHERY. AN AUSTRALIAN CAPTURED. (Received May 16, 6.45 a.m.) London, May 15. Newspapers express hints that Gen. Hunter started for Mafeking, while General Barton was fighting at Eooidann ou the 7th. Lieut. Wilkinson, of the Australian Horse, was captured with the party of Inniskillings when Capt. Elworthy of the 6th Dragoon Guards was killed through the Boers abusing the white flag.
