CRETAN QUESTION.
MUSSELMEN DISARMING. (by electric telegraph.—copyright). Candia, September 19. Admiral Canevaro, the Italian commander, suggests the withdrawal of Turkish officials and troops from Crete, the Powers guaranteeing the Sultan's suzerainty and the protection of the lives and property of the Mussulmans. Djevard Pasha has requested that disaffected Mussulmans shall be allowed to surrender their arms aboard the Turkish warships. Admiral Noel, however, insists on his orders being strictly followed. The Sultan of Turkey i-s said to be furious. London, September 19. The Standard's Candia correspondent states that Russia and France are working against England. Candia, September 19. Edham Pasha has proclaimed the Sultan's order for the disarmament of the Moslems in the island. The latter are complying. (Received Sept. 21, 11.11 a.m.). Candia, September 20. Relying on Admiral Noel's pledge of protection, the Mussslmen are disarming willingly. The insurgents have promised not to make any attack.
