The Waikato|Argus Office, Wednesday. MR W. J. HUNTER'S OHAUPO SALE. On Tuesday, at Mr W, J. Hunter's sale, about 300 head of cattle were offered, most of them of a good quality and in good condition. Dairy cows were numerous aud many of a good class. About thirty-rive were offered, the demand being good for anything near profit, selling freely up to £5 1 Is. Calves were also well represented and were of a good class, but there was little demand. Not many grown steers offered. Those in fresh forward condition sold well ; fresh empty cows also elicited competition. Beef was firm and sold nt previous quotations. The day was fine and there was a good attendance of the public. The following are the prices : Dai y cows from £3 10s to £5 lis; springing heifers, £2 10s to £4 ; calves, mixed sexe?, 12s to 16s fid ; 18 mouths' heifers, in good condition, 30s ; grown steers, £4 to £5 ; three-year-old steers, £3 17s 6d to £4 8s ; do., low condition, £3 5s ; empty cows, from 303 to £2 103 ; small fat steers, £5: fat cows and heifers, £4 to £5. Sheep : About 300 were yarded, nearly all hoggets, but with the exception of one or two pens the quality was not up to much, and consequently only a few sold under the hammer. One pen of fat hoggets brought 8s Id. About 20 horses were offered, nearly all weeds of a nondescript character, and sold at from 10s upwards.— (Own Correspondent). McNICOL AND CO.'S CLEARING SALE AT TE UJKU. On Wednesday, 22nd June, Messrs McNicol and Co.'s held a very successful sale of the live stock, farming implements and household effects of Mr R. Vernon Smith, at his residence, Te Uku. There was a large attendance of the public, buyers being present from all parts of the district, and excellent prices were obtained. Iu many instances articles of furniture brought more than their original shop prices. The live stock were in poor condition. The followiug were the prices :—lB-months old steers, 28s ; heifers, 22s ; dairy cows, £2 7s 6d ; bull, 22s ; draught horses, £6 to £7 10s ; hacks, 22s Gd to 32s 6d ; buggy horse, £4 108 ; crossbred ewes. 5s 2d ; lambs, 4s lid ; rams, 5s ; Oliver plough, £3 15s ; disc harrows, £4 10j ; tine harrow*, 37s 6d ; chain harrows, 30s ; Courtland waggon. £l4 10s ; chaffcutter, £3 10s ; three horse swingle tree, 15s ; potatoes, 4s 9d per bag ; side saddle, 27s 6d ; churn, 9s 6d ; small table, 7s 6d ; round table, 15s ; bedstead and mattress, £1 10s ; wire wove mattress, 14s 6d ; chest drawers, £1 Is ; looking glass, 6s ; child's cot, 10s ; range, £2 5s ; clock, 6a b'd ; scythe, 3s 6d ; cross-cut saw, Ss 6d ; hand saw, 4s 6d ; sewing machine, Iss ; bemwood chairs, 7s 6d ; wicker easy chairs, 7s lid. —(Own Correspondent).
