OHAUPO.
Cricket. —On Saturday last a match was played in Mr J. T. Edwards' paddocfi between Ohaupo and Tuhikaramea. The latter, although a bit 6horthanded, won by three runs. The visitors going in first made 59, the Ohaupo team following with a score of 56. The Misses Edwards kindly provided afternoon tea, which was very acceptable. The clay was hardiy suitable for cricket, as there was a very high wind blowing all day. School Committee. —A meeting of the Ohaupo School Committee was held in the Council Chambers on Monday evening. There were present : Mr R. Meat's (chairman), Messrs Kusabs, Prince, Graham, Jones and Rauch. The business was of a very routine character. The Chairman announsed that this would bs the last meeting of the present committee, as an election would be held on Monday, 25th April, and that the election would take place in the Council Chambers, which would be more convenient. He also thanked the committee for their assistance in the past, and congratulated the members on the amicable feeling that always existed in their meetings. Mr A. Jones proposed a cordial vote of thanks to the chairman, after which the meeting separated. Valuation Assessment Courts.—lt is rumoured that Hamilton only is the place that the S.M. will hold his Court of Appeal for the county, which would certainly be very inconvenient for settlers (who have lodged appeals) from this end of the district to go to Hamilton and wait perhaps for a day or two till their case was called. This would make the business rather a costly affair, whether they won or lost. It is to be hoped that the Government will see their way to hold a court in each of the small centres of the county. Reported Land Sales.— Although several parties have been touring the district lately with the avowed intention of purchasing a farm, no transactions have taken place round this district. The reported sale in your Saturday's issue of Mr Scott's farm, of Pukerimu, is incorrect. Such reports are apt to cause a good deal of annoyance to the parties concerned.—(Own Correspondent),
