MR W. J. HUNTER'S SECOND SHEEP FAIR-

* Mr W. J. Huntkk held his second sheep fair at Ormupo on Tuesday last, , when a large number of sheep were brought forward. The sale was started about an hour and a-half behind time, but once fairly under weigh Mr Hunter quickly rattled through his work, and the sale was over in good time. There was a slight drop in prices all round during the early part of the day, but this was more particularly noticeable in the case of lambs, which, with the exception of one or two choice lots, were dull cf sile. Buyers were plentilul, but Lidding was nor particularly brisk ; nevertheless, nearly every lot changed hands. A wonderful change look place in the true of the market us soon as the Napier sheep were offered, competition immediately became exceedingly brisk, and the whole line of 5000 was cleared in a very short space of time. Even then the demand remained unsaiisfisd, and another 1000 could have been disposed of without the slightest i.illiculty. For the coastal sheep the following prices were realised : —Two, four and six-tooth to full-mouth pure Lincolu ewes, 7s Gd ; two-tooth three-quurter-bred Lincolu ewes, 8s ; fresh full-mouth three-quarter-bred ewes, 5s lid to Gs Id ; six and eight-tooth ewes, Gs Id to 7s. Local sheep altered little in value. A large number of pens were ticketed for dipping, but they were neuily all the property of one owner. A keen and unhatisfied demand set in for anything in the shape of a Lincoln ram ; lew were yurded aud consequently competition was brisk. Prices ranged from 1 guinea up to 2;f guineus. To Mr R. Bosanko falls the honour of having bred the highest-priced ram of the season a Lincoln, which was obtained by MrGrant for 4J guineas. The following is a detailed account of the sale : s. d. F.
