“In fairness to the late Government, it should be pointed out that it only yielded to the insistent demand of returned soldiers throughout New Zealand for land. We yelled for land and we got it—in the neck,” said Mr. A. H. Campbell, at a meeting of the executive of the Returned' Soldiers’ Association, during a discussion on a special report on the land policy involving soldier settlements.
