STATE THEATRE.

PAUL ROBESON IN “BIG FELLA.” Paul Robeson, who has impressed many audiences with his glorious bass voice and remarkable personality has the leading part in “Big Fella,” to be screened again at the State Theatre to-night. Robeson is presented as a dockside worker in Marseilles, who is called in by the police to trace a small English boy, who has mysteriously vanished from a vessel in port. . An intensive round-up of criminals is made, but it is not until Robeson gets to work in a wary manner that any results are achieved. The whole tale is packed full of action and simple sentiment and filled with tuneful songs that have been composed for Robeson by Erie Ansell. The feminine lead in “Big Fella” is Elisabeth Welfh, popular coloured actress who was with Robeson in “Song of Freedom.” This talented actress’s name has often been associated with Robeson’s as “Mrs.” and so has Nina Mae McKinney’s, but both times gossip writers have been wrong. The real Mrs. Robeson plays a small, but outstanding part in his latest picture. The fourteen-year-old Eldon Grant plays the part of the missing boy. Reserves at Adcock’s, ’phone 1275, or at Theatre, 1322.
