CHURCH OF THE EPIPHANY.
SUCCESSFUL LADIES’ GUILD GARDEN PARTY. GATHERING ON SATURDAY. The Church of the’E'piphany Ladies’ Guild held a most successful garden party on Saturday afternoon, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Xamb, Herbert Street. The party was opened by Mrs. L. B. Maunsell, who referred to the good work done by the Ladies’ Guild and supporters of the church, and expressed the hope that the afternoon’s gathering would be profitable and enjoyable. The Vicar, the Bey, E., J. Rich, thanked Mrs. Maunsell for opening the party, also the many people who attended and Mr. and Mrs. Lamb for kindly making their beautiful garden available for the gathering. On behalf of the guild, Mrs, D. Duncan presented Mesdames Maunsell and Lamb with bouquets. Shoulder sprays were also presented, to Mesdames Grundy, E. J. Rich, F. Whitton, W. Dalrymple, W. James and Braggins Senr. An excellent.programme of musical items was rendered by the Mastertcli Municipal Band. Keen interest was taken, in the baby show, the results of which were: 6 under, girl and boy,’ Joyce TBrock and Kelvin H;enson; 12 months gnd under, Edna Cruickshank and Frederick Garrick; best baby up to 2 years, Valerie Bell. The judge, Mrs. W. James, had a difficult task in making her awards. The prizes were presented by Mrs. Whitton, president of the guild. Th© afternoon tea arrangements were in the capable hands of Mesdames A. T. Jackson, Bungate and Bell, assisted by many helpers. The stall-holders were: Work, Mesdames W. Henson,, J. A. Betts, J' Miller; cakes, Mesdames H. M., Boddington and Miss Ash well; produce, Mesdames Williams, Hallam and Miss Pearce; sweets, Mrs. C. Braggins and family; strawberries and cream, Misses U. and D. Wyber and Mrs. E, Wrigley; ice cream, Mrs. W. Palamontain and Miss Jean Jackson; flowers and plants, Mesdairies D. Duncan and; Nelson; buttonholes, Elva Jackson And Audrey Henson; hoop la, Miss 15. Kemp and Sunday School children. Th.© sideshows were in charge of Mr. V. Joblin, the church men’s committee and boys from the Sedgley Boys’ Home,. Valuable assistance was given by Messrs C. Braggins and Minton. The posies and sprays were macle and donated by Miss Josephine McKenzie.
