WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday: Barograph, 29.89; shade temperature, maximum 60, minimum 34.1; terrestrial, 24.7; sunshine, 10 hours 45 minutes; frost, 5.7 degrees. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 31 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 3 p.m. yesterday:—An anti-cyclone covers the north Tasman Sea and extends to beyond northern New Zealand while the first of a series of westerly depressions is crossing the Dominion to-day. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong westerly to south-westerly, of gale force in places south of New Plymouth and Napier but decreasing and becoming more westerly to-morrow. Weather: Changeable and squally, with rain at times, more especially in districts with a westerly aspect and the southern portion of the South Island, some hail probable at first in coastal areas of the South Island; temperatures becoming cooler temporarily. Sun rises, 0.2 a.m.; .sets, 6.25 p.m. Lighting-up time: 6.55 p.m.
