PLUNGE OVER BANK.

CAB FALLS HUNDRED FEET NEAR KOROKORO. TWO OCCUPANTS INJURED. WELLINGTON, September 6. A narrow escape from death was experienced by two men when their car went over a 100-foot bank on theKorokoro Hill on Saturday night and crashed into a gully. The driver of the car was Alexander Mills, a labourer employed by the Public Works Department, and his passenger was Edward Holmes, a coal merchant. Both men belong to Korokoro. The accident happened about 5.15 p.m. Mr. H. Webster, of Korokoro, who was driving behind Mills's car, saw it disappear over a slope which ran down to the gully at an angle of: about 45 degrees. He investigated the condition of the men and thsn went to Korokoro for help. The police arrived, and with the help of local residents the men were extracted from the overturned car and sent in the ambulance to the hospital. Mr. Holmes received a severe cut on one leg, and after treatment was able to return home. Mr. Mills had both legs broken, and although fris condition is serious, he w r as described to-day as being a little better. The car, a two-seater, wa.Cbadly damaged.—(P.A.)
