Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended May I:—Barograph, 29.62; ghade temperature, maximum, 62.7; minimum, 46.6; terrestrial, 37.7; sunshine, 4 hours 21 minutes; rain, 9 points. May 2: Barograph, 29.43; shade temperature, maximum, 63.1; minimum, 49.0; terrestrial, 43.6; sunshine, 7 hours 6 minutes; rain, 1 point. Solway: Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 7 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kid son) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—The last of the present series of westerly depressions is now moving on to the Dominion, while a moderate an-ti-cyclone covers Easern Australia. Forecast: Winds, between west and south-west and south-westerlies, or southerlies, becoming general within 24 hours. Force moderate to strong generally, and reaching gale force in places especially about and south of Cook Strait. Weather: Squally and changeable, with heavy showers at times in most places. Some snow on the. ranges and hail in places. Temperatures becoming cold. Sun rises, 6.40 a.m.; sets, 4.55 p.m. Lighting-up time, 5.25 p.m.
